Trustpoint One is pleased to partner with a not-for-profit in its search for an experienced Grants and Contracts Counsel to join the business operations team on an interim basis in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The attorney will provide legal counsel on a wide range of legal issues, including those related to federal contract procurement, digital technology, data security and privacy, health information and software technology, and intellectual property protection.

Grants and Contracts Counsel Job Responsibilities:

-             Ensure that all agreements, contracts, grants and proposals are designed and administered in compliance with regulatory, statutory, and legal requirements.

-             Serve as trusted advisor, engaging with a wide array of internal and external customers.

-             Serve as the primary interface between the company and government agencies to resolve contract/procurement and/or grant issues as they relate to contracting.

-             Provide input and review in collaboration with internal customers in the negotiation and monitoring of contracts and associated requirements with program areas and departments across the organization.

-             Ensure that all agreements, contracts, grants, and proposals are designed and administered in compliance with regulatory, statutory, and legal requirements, including all company policies and procedures, government regulations, nonprofit tax law, and industry protocols.

-             Assist in developing policies, procedures and practices relating to contract administration.

-             Lead interface with external counsel with the exception of employment counsel. Collaborate with human resources and employment counsel as it relates.


-             Juris Doctor or equivalent degree with active license to practice law by the State Bar of Michigan.

-             At least five (5) years’ experience in government or commercial procurement with an established understanding of the FAR and Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200 (45 CFR Part 75).

-             Experience writing and supporting government contracts and grants.

-             International contracting experience and non-profit experience is preferred.

-             Demonstrated performance with a very high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, discretion, and confidentiality.

-             Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both formal and informal.

-             Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and maintain focused work in a high volume, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities.

-             Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; intermediate proficiency with all other Microsoft Office applications.

-             Ability to provide effective enforcement with a helpful, service oriented educational approach.

-             Solid understanding of general office practices, business principles and applications.

-             Ability to work independently, with little to no supervision, as well as in a team environment.
