Trustpoint One is seeking several Immigration Paralegals to work on a temporary basis with its immigration group in San Francisco.  Successful candidates will be aware of the new e-filing process and have experience with CAP season and preparing H1B visa petitions to meet the April 1, filing deadline.  MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ON-SITE IN SAN FRANCISCO.

Immigration Paralegal Job Duties

-             Work directly with attorneys and Regional Paralegal Manager to manage caseload from intake through processing and filing.

-             Prepare and file nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications for permanent residency and secondary benefits for foreign nationals.

-             Organize and prepare petition packets for review and filing.

-             Communicate with employees and human resources professionals to gather needed information and documents required for the preparation of petitions and applications.

-             Ensure that clients are kept apprised of the progress of their cases.

-             Enter and maintain data in immigration case management system.

-             Maintain hard copy files and documents as required to support all immigration activity on behalf of clients.

-             Assist in responding to immigration inquiries in a timely manner.

-             Enter time into Carpe Diem and adhere to submission deadlines.

-             Apply basic understanding of legal and ethical principles that guide paralegal conduct, including, but not limited to:  the unauthorized practice of law; confidentiality and attorney-client privilege; conflicts of interest.


-             A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

-             A minimum of 1 year of experience in business immigration is required

-             An interest in pursuing business immigration as a career

-             Good case management aptitude and analytical skills

-             Good independent judgment

-             A working knowledge of the application of legal processes applied in immigration law

-             Demonstrated organizational and technical skills

-             Ability to function as part of a team

-             Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize and balance competing demands

-             In addition to a bachelor’s degree, per California legislation AB 1761, paralegals are required to have one of the following:

-             (1) a certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association;

-             (2) certificate of completion of a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a postsecondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester, or equivalent, units in law-related courses and that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education;

-             (3) baccalaureate degree or an advanced degree in any subject, a minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the federal courts of this state for at least the preceding three years, and a written declaration from this attorney stating that the person is qualified to perform paralegal tasks.
